Work Area
Your applications are all managed within your online account. The system will send out automatic receipts when an application has been submitted or when you receive a conditions letter and/ or approval. A link will be within the email to take you back to the ERM and your applications. This will be the main page of your account and it is called the Work Area.
Account Navigation Tiles
‘Notifications’ shows when you have been sent notifications about your application(s) and will show how many notifications have been received. 'Shared’ will show project/applications shared with another person: for students this will normally be their supervisor; for staff, this will show projects on which you have collaborated with other users. ‘Signatures’ is shown for supervisors only, and those who have received signature requests from students. 'Transfers' shows projects that have been completely transferred to another user. These projects can no longer be used by the account or user it was created by.
Requesting Signature
All student applicants are required to enter their supervisor’s name and supervisor email in order for their application to be signed off by their supervisor. You will not be able to submit your application without these details. Make sure that you have them before starting your application or attempting request a signature. Student applications without a supervisor will be sent back.
Grey Side Panel
The grey side panel is used to navigate the system and is located on the left-hand side of the screen. Please be aware when a screen is minimised or made smaller the panel may pop into the side. Go to the top left-hand corner where three horizontal lines may appear, click these and the panel should pop back out for you to navigate from. The Grey Panel contains various buttons to take navigate. ‘Create Project’ to make an application. ‘Delete Project’ to remove a project application; ‘Add Folder’ to create a folder to organise projects/applications; ‘Delete Folder’ to remove a folder; ‘Duplicate’ to make a copy of a project/application; ‘Transfer’ to send the project/application to another user and to abandon all rights to the project if you will no longer be working on the project.
Inside the Form
The application form contains of a sequence of questions over of number of sections. The number of questions that you will be required to answer depends on how you respond to each question, however all questions that will populate are mandatory. The number of questions may increase as other questions appear below as you answer the first questions. Guidance on some questions is provided if there is an ‘i’ button to the right of a question. Clicking on this button will bring up a pop-up box with help for that question. • Make sure that you always scroll down to the bottom of each page. When you reach the bottom of each web page, use the ‘Next’ button located at the top of the left hand or at the bottom of the page to progress to the next set of questions. To back to the previous page of questions, use the ‘Previous’ button. To return to the overview of your project, use the ‘Navigation’ button which looks like an arrow. • You will not be able to submit your application unless you have answered all questions. The system will run a ‘Completeness Check’ to check if all questions are completed. • You may also be required to upload document at the end of you application form. Please upload all documentation that is required. Uploads of Information sheets, consent forms. Access request letter documents are mandatory, you will not be able to submit your application until the required uploads have been made. • All student applicants are required to enter their supervisor’s name and supervisor email in order for their application to be authorised by their supervisor. You will not be able to submit your application without supervision details.
